On using the 48 State Map first, then the 50 State Map.
For young children, building image recognition with the 50 states worksheet should take place after working with this 48 states worksheet. This 2-step approach is to allow the child to gain image recognition of the 48-state continental shape before moving on to understanding issues of location and distance for Alaska and Hawaii which will mean working with a globe.
